A typical day in the life of an Irrigation Farm Hand at Longtrail:

8am

Reporting to the Irrigation 2IC, you might start the day in the crew moving a pivot to its new farm location.  Your involvement may include undoing all the nuts and bolts or driving the telehandler, carefully manoeuvring the pivot so it makes its voyage safely without damage.

12pm

You break for lunch in preparation for an afternoon of preventative maintenance. On your own you change pump oil, take meter reads and check pivot tyre pressures. Always documenting your actions and operating in safe and efficient way.

3.30pm

Halfway through your maintenance work, you get a call from the Livestock Manager. There are sheep out near the location you’re working, and you’re needed to assist.  Your plans have changed, but that’s ok because you’re dynamic in nature and a team player. At Longtrail we all work together.

You’ve had a chance to go back to the pivot, finalise your maintenance check list and head back to the yard, where the team have gathered for a Friday Night knock off. Seeding has just fini5:00 pm shed, and it’s time to unwind.

Accommodation can be negotiated into salaries.
