WORKSHOP ASSISTANT/DIESEL MECHANIC

 

Longtrail Farms is currently looking for Workshop Assistant/Diesel Mechanic to join our team located in Parilla, South Australia. This is a key role and will be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant and equipment in an organised schedule of work as required.

What to expect day to day?

  • Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will maintain and repair all equipment or work with a specialised repair agent. 

  • You will undertake the preventative maintenance schedule to ensure limited downtime of machines. 

  • You will provide mentoring support to junior farm members to build maintenance skills across the team. 

  • You will be responsible for the overall presentation of the workshop and surrounding yard so that inventory is appropriately stocked and well organised and the areas looks tidy always.

  • You will provide back up support to monitor and repair irrigation operations as directed by the Workshop Manager. 

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance on plant and equipment on systems like SafeAg Systems.

 

About you:

  • Qualification in Mechanics or Agriculture (desirable)

  • Mechanical and welding aptitude 

  • Previous experience maintaining farm equipment

  • Previous experience operating farm machinery 

  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and online systems/apps. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Forklift license (desirable)

  • Chemical User Permit or willingness to complete
